Site Description
The site comprises approximately thirty-three hectares located to the East of Sun Lane Alresford. The site currently comprises a single field of former agricultural use with well-established hedging and trees to the boundaries but no landscape features of significance within the site. The site is bounded to the West by Sun Lane to the North by the Watercress Steam Railway Line and public right of way (off site), to the East by agricultural land and solar farm and to the South by Whitehill Lane and the A31 just beyond.
Once completed, the development will deliver 302 new homes comprising 1- & 2-bedroom apartments as well as 2-, 3-, 4- & 5-bedroom homes for families, 40% being allocated as affordable housing.
The scheme illustrated on the map is split into two; the residential scheme is located to the north separated from the commercial area to the south by approximately sixteen hectares of Parkland.
The industrial area on the Southern part of the site and will provide a mixture of facilities for light industrial use. All the plans and comments for this area can be examined on the WCC Planning portal under the reference 23/02845/REM. This includes new road layouts and detailed planting plans.
The new development will be a short walk from convenient amenities in the town centre.
