Explore the Best Walks Around Alresford with Winchester Ramblers

Alresford and its surrounding villages offer some of the most beautiful walking country in Hampshire, from chalk streams and water meadows to open downland, ancient woodlands and peaceful farmland. To help more residents and visitors discover these routes, Winchester Ramblers, part of The Ramblers UK walking charity, are inviting the Alresford community to join their weekly programme of guided walks.

Winchester Ramblers run six guided walks each week, offering both short and longer options to suit all ages, abilities and interests. All walks are free to try, open to everyone, and led by experienced volunteers who know the local footpaths inside out. Many of these walks take place in and around Alresford, Ropley, Bramdean and the villages stretching north towards East Stratton.

Whether you’re looking for a gentle social stroll, a brisker countryside route, or a chance to improve your fitness, there is something for everyone.

Winchester & Alresford Walking Festival — June Each Year

Every June, Winchester Ramblers host a free annual walking festival, attracting both local residents and visitors from further afield. In 2026, they plan a special Alresford-focused day in which all festival walks will start from Alresford, likely from Arlebury Park. This will offer a fantastic opportunity to showcase the town, boost local businesses and encourage more people to explore the countryside on foot. Winchester walking Weekend.
